Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Helped By Chiropractor In Seattle

If you have numbness and pain in the hands, it might be due to a pinched median nerve. As it moves through the wrist to the hand, it goes through a passage formed by eight bones. This is called the carpal tunnel. For someone who works assembling small parts or types, this is going to affect the ability to work. A Seattle chiropractor helps clients with this condition.

This condition affects three times as many women as men. The carpal tunnel is very narrow to begin with, and grows narrower when swelling takes place. Arthritics and diabetics are often afflicted with this and there may be a connection to those diseases.

You will notice a tingling sensation and numbness in your hands, thumbs and fingers. It grows worse while you are sleeping. The severity of the pain may wake you up during the night. Pain may move from your wrists to the shoulders.

Ignoring it will not make it go away. It will only grow worse. Eventually you might not be able to grip anything. Your hands will weaken and you may be unable to function. You may end up with permanent muscle damage without care.

Many of those afflicted with this condition hesitate to take pain medication, either prescription or over the counter pills. They do not want invasive procedures used either. For them, chiropractic care is the optimal choice.

An appointment with the chiropractor will be spent doing an evaluation. Your hands and wrists will be examined and x-rays may be ordered. Strength will be measured and range of motion ability tested.

Following the assessment a plan will be made for your care. You may be forced to change to another job if you were previously typing all day or performing any other repetitive motion. An exercise plan will be created to suit your particular needs.

A splint may be used to immobilize your wrist. This will reduce pressure. Worn during the night it will alleviate the numbness and pain that disturbs your sleep.
